It feels like if you blink these days the week is done, the month is a blur, and before you know it, it’s a brand new year! Things move fast. For the bbd Motion team, it’s a blistering pace that requires drastic changes.

Motion is playing an increasingly larger role in marketing campaigns. So, naturally, that means that demand for motion assets is at an all time high. To meet demand, we welcomed onboard a new full time Junior Motion Graphics Designer—Leia—who is already smashing out all kinds of amazing motion work.
But alongside this, we also conducted a 10 week internal motion graphics training course with six creative bbd’ers to bolster our motion graphics capabilities. Say hello to our new motion friends!

The goal? By the end of the adventure, they would be fully capable of taking on motion graphics briefs. This carefully curated programme kept things tight and succinct—with 15 years of After Effects experience, I know the fact from the fluff. Time is precious after all.
Starting with the basics and quickly building on key animation concepts, the team blew me away with their willingness to jump into the unknown, their passion to learn more and general raw skills when it came to motion.
Seeing how different personalities from different specialities tackled motion creativity was fascinating to see. Our designer’s mindset is obviously very different from that of a web developer, but translating that to motion is different.
1. We can do more
This is the most obvious, I know. Our motion capabilities have multiplied drastically, increasing flexibility within the production studio. Plus, having more eyes on motion further improves the quality of our output.
2. Different perspectives, different results
Sharing motion insights between designers, web developers and social executives opens up a world of different perspectives and ideas. The discussions on how to best implement motion assets during web builds and social platforms has never been better. Which leads me onto…
3. Efficiency in understanding
The wider bbd team now understands the fundamentals of motion graphics. By having hands-on experience and coming head first into the challenges it presents, they can:
Saving time, better products. What’s not to love?
4. Learning never ends, for anyone
If we at bbd get complacent and think we know everything, we’ve failed and will continue to fail. Every single day, I’m learning new motion skills—sharing ideas and learning from others around me. This collaboration is something we pour into every single project that comes through our doors.
Putting it simply: need a motion project doing? Well buckle up, you’ve got expert designers, social executives, web developers, project managers and motion graphics artists all working to bring it to life in the best way possible.
Last year was an exciting one for the motion team here, and there are so many more exciting things to share with you later in 2025.
New product offerings, new learnings and insights, as well as a look behind the curtain on some of our most exciting motion projects in recent bbd times.
Things are moving fast and we wouldn’t want it any other way.
