The role will report directly into our Joint Managing Directors. And will be responsible for producing meaningful insight into the agency, enabling strong financial decision making, whilst also taking responsibility for all accounting and financial matters across the agency day to day.

This is a pivotal role in supporting the Board and Senior Management team – strong communication skills and the ability to review and produce financial information to the management team as requested will be the key to success.

The focus of the role is all things financial: financial control, cash-flow management and financial reporting, with the opportunity for new processes to be proposed and implemented as the agency continues to expand and develop.
Experience in Professional Services is a must (you need to show a strong understanding of our key metrics and performance management).

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES – MANDATORY FINANCE COMPLIANCE
● Production and Management of Year-end accounts
● Production and Management of accounts (group companies)
● Oversee/compliance of accounting policies and standards
● Annual Returns: Review of company records and submission to Companies House
● Company secretarial role in liaising with 3rd parties and drafting of internal documents as applicable (e.g. company books, share activity and board meetings)
● Support and input into legal matters
● HMRC & Customs and Excise Compliance
● GDPR management and the application of
● Review of pension calculations and compliance with legislation

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES – TAXATION
● Awareness of and corporation tax management and liaising
● PAYE/NIC overview and oversee
● VAT management including the generation and submission of quarterly VAT return
● R&D Tax Credits management and oversee

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES – FINANCIAL CONTROL & REPORTING
● Financial controls and processes
● Monthly management accounts:
○ Profit and loss accounts
○ Balance sheet
○ Trial balance
○ Debtors/Creditors month end
○ Contribution analysis
○ Utilisation analysis
○ Accruals/prepayments
○ Deferred income analysis
○ Freelance analysis
● Management and application of exchange rates and foreign exchange with international and global client invoicing
● Board reporting pack (monthly)
● KPI reporting (monthly)
● Analysis of all balance sheet entries – maintenance of control accounts
● Review of all P&L entries
● Invoicing review and oversee
● Working capital review and control (cash flow and facilities)

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES – TEAM MANAGEMENT
● Managing of finance team including;
○ Experienced Accounts Manager at bbd for over 10 years
○ New candidate in role of Finance Executive being managed by above

EXPERIENCE & THE RIGHT CANDIDATE
● Commercial sector experience needed (ideally of 6+ years)
● Degree educated Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA)
● Significant PQE with strong commercial acumen demonstrated in a professional services environment (of similar size)
● Comfortable owning accounts, and already or willing to be a subject matter expert on the accounts software (Currently Sage Payroll) and supporting reporting tools (Currently Synergist)
● Experience of Management Accounts preparation – preparing and finalising management accounts on a regular basis in a professional services environment
● Significant analytics and modelling skills with strong problem-solving ability
● Experience of HMRC reporting commitments
● Experience of KPI reporting
● Proven ability for implementing, managing and monitoring financial controls
● Passion and attention to detail in reporting
● Hands on approach that reflects the small size of the team
● High degree of integrity
● Comfortable in a creative environment
