Discover the journey of our new Agency Marketing Manager, Lucy Trott
Hi, My name is Lucy and I’ve recently joined the Bright Blue Day team as Agency Marketing Manager.
Last year, I completed my degree in Marketing Communications with Public Relations at Bournemouth University however my marketing journey had begun two years prior. My first introduction into the industry was during an internship at Seed Marketing Agency, an experiential Gen-Z and Youth focussed agency, where I left the comfort of Dorset and ventured into the (significantly more busy) world of London. Here, I worked client side for Amazon EU, working with partner agencies in Spain and Italy to deliver Amazon's student experiential campaigns, learning end to end campaign planning and assisting in other client work with a design lens including work for Spotify in award-winning campaigns.
Towards the end of my internship I started to help out with parent company Amplify, an experiential and creative agency conveniently located in the same offices as Seed, with their in-house marketing efforts, assisting with the launch of all three sibling agencies' websites. After this, I was scouted to continue on at Amplify after my internship ended assuming the role of Marketing Assistant and working my way up to Marketing Executive then to Brand + Content Coordinator where I was responsible for our owned marketing channels. Highlights for me included crafting and owning our website, having a piece I wrote featured in Campaign and capturing socials for a Revolut event that included a Charli XCX concert at the end (I hard sold that I needed to be there… for marketing purposes of course).
Alongside work, I also went back to Bournemouth to complete my degree, where I also started to properly pursue DJing as a profession. I have always loved music and this seemed like the perfect first step into this world. I had been a bedroom DJ for two years prior but booking my first gig felt like a huge accomplishment. Since then, I have played at most clubs in Bournemouth with a mixture of different genres and in the last year have founded my own events company, planning events and playing music for the gays, theys and gals in the south.
After completing university, I moved back home where the commute to work became too much, sitting at a three and a half hour journey… one way. Also, being Dorset Born, Dorset Bred, I’ve always loved being by the coast and amongst nature so I knew that London wasn’t quite my scene so I wouldn't be moving back there. Thus, after months of commuting back and forth, staying at friends' houses and exploring what London hotels had to offer (windowless rooms for £100 a night), I decided to find a job role a little closer to home. Cue Bright Blue Day where I am now happily a month in as Agency Marketing Manager. The team here has accepted me with open arms and I already feel at home and am excited to continue my journey in the marketing sphere back here in Dorset.
