Starting a New Chapter

Hey everyone! My name is Bennya and I’ve just recently joined the team here at Bright Blue Day as a Junior Creative, and I couldn’t be more thrilled to be here (and to be employed in this economy).

Before I joined the team, I had just graduated from Arts University Bournemouth with a degree in Graphic Design (yipee). While stepping out of student life and into the ‘real world’ can be daunting, I’ve always thrived on keeping myself busy and pouring my energy into creative work, so diving straight into the industry felt like the most natural step.

My Lore

Creativity has always been a huge part of my identity. Growing up, my parents signed me up for what felt like every extracurricular under the sun, taekwondo, swimming, ballet… you name it. And I really did enjoy trying them all. I think my parents were trying to control this huge ball of energy I had within me to keep the house intact, so good on them, but I found that drawing was where I really found my rhythm. Our small little apartment walls became my personal art gallery, covered in drawings and stickers.

That love for creativity naturally spilled into all areas of my life; fashion, makeup and hobbies. I’m a gymrat and pilates girly, I play the piano, crochet and make jewellery to wear and sell. Basically, you’ll never find me sitting still. During my final year at university, I did a bit of modelling on the side, featuring in Miami’s no. 1 fashion magazine, ‘Scorpio Jin’, and had an insanely good bob crafted for me. I also helped do a bit of influencer-style content for small businesses selling jewelry.

On top of all that, I’ve spent the past seven years working behind the scenes, as a chef at my family’s Thai restaurant. It was intense at times juggling university, social life and hobbies but an incredibly rewarding experience that taught me a ton about time management, working under pressure and cooking up a mean Pad Thai.

During my second year of university and the summer I graduated, I completed two placements at Walker, where I worked on social campaigns and several statics for familiar brands such as Mentos, Chupa Chups, Fruit-tella and SMINT etc. Which gave me a good insight into the industry world after graduating.

And now, here I am at Bright Blue Day! Can’t believe I’m employed and now driving, second year me would be rolling in her grave right now, but here’s to a new chapter of my life!
